Over the next few weeks in the NRL there will be some critical head to head clashes that will determine the plight of the teams still in the race for the finals.  Here’s a look at the teams still in contention to make the NRL finals and where weloveleague thinks they will finish on the competition ladder.

Roosters 36pts (+279)

The Roosters have West Tigers this Friday, Sharks away, Titans at home and South Sydney in the final game.  They have Boyd Cordner, Anthony Minichiello and Martin Kennedy on the sidelines.  It’s quite simple, win three out of four games and they will be crowned Minor Premiers.  James Maloney and Mitchell Pearce have been sensational in 2013, Michael Jennings has settled in at Bondi and back to his best.  Even Shaun Kenny-Dowall has lifted over the last month of footy.  weloveleague predicts the Roosters will be the 2013 Minor Premiers and their biggest test will be the Rabbitohs in the final round.

Rabbitohs 34pts (+182)

A bump in the road with losses against the Storm and Cowboys in recent weeks and now face the next few weeks without of Sam Burgess who was suspended for a ‘squirrel grip’.  The good news is John Sutton and Greg Inglis have been named for the Sea Eagles match at Gosford on Friday.  A tricky draw with the Bulldogs, Tigers and Roosters still to play.  They need to keep on winning so they avoid having to play away to the Eagles away, or in Melbourne in the first week of the finals.  weloveleague predicts the Rabbitohs will end up third.

Sea Eagles 31pts (+212)

The Eagles are flexing their muscles in their run to the finals with six straight victories.  Anthony Watmough is the only main injury concern after a knee injury in their victory over New Zealand Warriors last Sunday.  Given their recent form their draw looks good with South Sydney, Bulldogs, Melbourne Storm and Penrith in their run home.  They will relish the challenge of playing finals-like footy.  weloveleague thinks they will force their way into second spot at the expense of the Rabbitohs and host a final in the first week.

Storm 31pts (+162)

Melbourne have hit form in the last two weeks with big wins against Canberra and South Sydney.  They’ve learnt to adapt to life without Gareth Widdop who’s spent quite a while on the sidelines through injury.  The big three in Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith have the big match experience to help players like Mahe Fonua and Tohu Harris through the upcoming finals campaign.  In the run home the Storm play Newcastle, Parramatta, Manly and Gold Coast.  weloveleague thinks the Storm will finish either in third or fourth place and miss out on hosting a first week final.
Love,
